How do you get involved with the Champoeg experience?
You can become a member of FHC, or volunteer for something that interests you, or both.
Know how to spin? Split rails? Make butter? Want to learn? Even your kids can help demonstrate pioneer skills or games. We provide costumes and training.  It's fun and you play an important role in preserving Oregon history.

Here are some popular volunteer opportunities:

  • Costumed Living History

  • 1860s Kitchen Garden

  • Champoeg Promise School Program

  • Computer and Technical Support

  • Butteville Store

  • Board of Directors

  • Administrative & Technical Support

  • Museum Book Store

Living History demonstrations and events.  Put on a mid-19th century costume and demonstrate a pioneer skill: spinning, rail-splitting, games and much more.  Show what you know or are willing to learn!  Saturdays in July and August, with Pioneer Farmstead Day on Saturday, September 2.

Gardening.  The park has a large 1860s-style kitchen garden filled with heirloom vegetables, herbs and flowers.  Gardeners will love it!
