Volunteer

Donna-And-Mark-portraitVolunteering is a rewarding experience. Friends of Historic Champoeg (FHC) is nonprofit organization working in partnership with Oregon State Parks and Recreation Department to interpret the cultural and natural history of Champoeg State Heritage Area. Volunteers help us share the story of Oregon's rich cultural and natural heritage.

Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Costumed demonstrating skills and crafts typical of life in 1862 at Living History events
  • Helping with other public events such as the quilt or art shows
  • Behind the scenes help with props, costumes, or fundraising
  • Helping with FHC’s education programs
  • working in the 1860s kitchen garden.
  • helping visitors further understand the history depicted in the Visitor Center exhibit areas by becoming a Costumed Interpreter
  • Helping at The Historic Butteville Store with events and daily retail sales
  • Becoming a board member to help tell our story!

There are so many fun things to do at Champoeg; you can find a special niche to share your strengths and expertise. We provide training and education, and costumes!
